This has been a very popular post over on my Instagram account and I have received a ton of questions about it over the last week, so I knew I needed a landing spot for it here on my website as well. I'm so happy that so many people have found this little makeover inspiring.

As many of you know, we are a homeschooling family, but you may not know that our high school students take their classes online. They have been content to work in various spaces around our house but I knew it was time to give them a permanent landing spot. I cannot even tell you how much functionality, and even productivity, this little budget friendly makeover has brought to our home. I mean, who wouldn't be more productive with a laptop station?

This post is a collaboration with Liberty University Online Academy so I am sharing all of the DIY information for this makeover on their blog, which you can find here > https://www.liberty.edu/online-academy/blog/a-new-space-for-a-new-year/ There, you can find a list of tools and supplies needed to make the desk as well as the color and product used to makeover the cabinet.
I have also created a video tutorial for how I made the simple desk. Click the image below to head over to my YouTube channel for viewing.
I hope you feel inspired to try a simple DIY and maybe even look at some older pieces in your home with a new eye. To answer all of the remaining questions I've received through my Instagram DMs, I'm creating a source post for this room, so stay tuned!
Until next time...

Love how you gave your high schoolers a dedicated landing spot without breaking the budget—functionality plus productivity is a win. We’re a homeschooling family too, so this feels so relatable. By the way, I keep a home café brewing guide I like to share: https://homecafelab.com/
The DIY laptop station shows how a practical workspace can make everyday tasks more organised and comfortable. For professionals studying alongside work, a quantity surveyor course can provide focused construction knowledge, while The College of Contract Management offers flexible learning that can fit around existing routines.
I spent a few minutes on the interface, and I liked what I saw. It’s balanced, user-friendly, and doesn’t overwhelm you with too much at once.
After browsing through the interface, I can say it’s well put together. It’s clean, easy on the eyes, and simple to move between different sections.
I checked the interface for a bit, and it’s quite impressive. Everything feels neatly arranged, and navigating around is really straightforward.
